The intention
The problem: The challenge was to give Angels (Apsara) a distinct presence without overwhelming the room around it.
Devotional portraiture at its most reverent — icons, garlands and gold, painted the way faith is actually held close.
How it took shape
The solution: A oil at 2 × 3 ft gives the composition room to breathe while keeping the subject close and readable.
The final work was developed around the balance of subject, surrounding space and the small details that reward a closer look.
